# Instant Replay

Capture what just happened with a 2‑minute session replay and full diagnostics.

Save recent activity on an enabled website without repeating the steps.

Instant Replay keeps a rolling buffer of about **two minutes** of page activity. It reconstructs the page from changes and interactions, rather than recording a video of your screen.

## Enable a website

Instant Replay is **off for websites until you enable them**.

Open the Screendesk extension on the website and choose **Enable on this site**, or add its domain to **Always Enabled Sites** in **Settings → Manage Websites**.

A blocked site stays disabled even if it also appears in Always Enabled Sites. See [Website management](/screen-recorder/settings/website-management.md).

## Save a replay

1. Enable the website before the activity you want to capture.
2. Use the page normally.
3. Open Screendesk and choose **Instant Replay**.
4. Review the replay, adjust the trim range if needed, and add details.
5. Choose **Upload** to create a shareable workspace link, or **Close** to keep a local draft.

Only activity collected after enabling the website is available. If the buffer is empty, wait while using the page and try again.

## What it does and does not capture

Instant Replay includes supported page content and changes. It does not record webcam video, microphone audio, desktop applications, canvas content, or cross-origin iframe content.

Use [Screen recording](/screen-recorder/record-and-capture/screen-recording.md) when you need those visual surfaces or narration.

Form input values are masked in the replay. Logs, network requests, screenshots, and screen-recording pixels need a separate privacy review. See [Your data & Instant Replay](/screen-recorder/record-and-capture/instant-replay/your-data-and-instant-replay.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.screendesk.io/screen-recorder/record-and-capture/instant-replay.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `build a script that syncs our docs to a CMS` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
