Auto deletion of recordings
Set up deletion policies to automatically remove recordings and bug reports after a set number of days.
Available on Pro and Enterprise plans.
How auto deletion works
Screendesk runs a cleanup job once per day. It runs at midnight UTC.
A recording or a bug report is deleted when its age exceeds your retention period. Age is based on the recording creation date.
Deletion is permanent. Deleted recordings and associated data can’t be recovered.
Set up a Deletion Policy
Deletion policies are managed from Account Settings → Security → Deletion Policies.

Open Deletion Policies
Navigate to Account Settings → Security → Deletion Policies.
Create a new policy
Click + New Policy. You'll be taken to the policy creation form where you define your deletion rule:
Content type: Recordings or Bug reports
Type, depending on the content type selected:
For Recordings: All, Received, Sent, or Live
For Bug reports: All, Video recording, Screenshot, or Instant replay
Retention period: Number of days after creation
Filter (optional): No filter, a specific folder, or a specific label

Preview upcoming deletions
Before enabling a policy, you can preview what it would delete. Click the eye icon next to the policy to open the Deletion Preview.

It shows:
The total number of recordings that would be deleted over the next 7 days
A breakdown by date of which recordings are scheduled for deletion

FAQ
Can I set different retention periods for different recording types?
Yes. You can create multiple policies with different retention periods — for example, one policy to delete received recordings after 30 days, and another to delete video recording bug reports after 90 days.
Can I create multiple policies?
Yes. You can create separate policies for different types of content — for example, one for recordings and one for bug reports.
Can I filter by folder or label?
Yes. When creating a policy, you can optionally scope it to a specific folder or label instead of applying it to all recordings.
What exactly gets deleted?
The recording and all associated data, including attachments, comments, labels, and viewer tracking.
